Isn't that a race car? |

It's been type-approved for road use, so it has passed all scrutiny including crash testing, to be able to be purchased and used as a road car. See the number plates and lights. So how do we class this one, as it has no roof so can't really be listed as a convertible? |

I raised that issue relative to some of the really old runabouts that also have no top. I don't think any resolution was reached. |

"Custom" if it is hand-made, or "Race" if it is a roadlegalized race car For these old cars, I think that we could consider that "convertible" is "any sedan/coupé which can be open", even if it cannot be closed (with the French word "cabriolet" there is no "conversion" meaning like with the English "convertible" I think). -- Last edit: 2007-05-09 17:54:13 |

sure, but this would mean we would have to go through all the homologated rally and other race cars registered for the road - that means F40 etc. This particular model isn't strictly a road-legalised race car, as it was designed from the outset to be type-approved for sale as a new car for the road (not that you would want to take it shopping much ). This is quite different to getting hold of a race car and converting it later in life, I think. |

I should maybe simply add a "Misc" category for cars, like what I did for bikes |

Although I don't like too many categories, that may be a good idea. |
