@dsl: This is actually a "Zephyr Six" rather than a Zephyr. That model name only belongs to the Mk 2 versions as by that time Ford UK meant that people had forgot about the Lincoln Zephyr. In 1951 they hadn't and thus had to add the Six bit to be allowed to use the Zephyr name, when they asked their parent company Ford Dearborn. Due to the success of the Consul and the Zephyr Six, Ford never had any production capacity left for other models than the four door sedan. Hence Carbodies in Coventry made the Convertibles. I think that name should be added to all Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac convertibles. Thus this is a 1954+ (because of the side strip, hood/bonnet ornaments were available as optional extras from many suppliers) Ford Zephyr Six Convertible by Carbodies. What is so special with this model that it decerves a "Made for Mauritius" flag? |
