Diamond T or Reo ? I thought that these were two separate makes? |

White, to whom both Reo and Diamond T belonged, merged the two in 1967 to form 'Diamond Reo Trucks'. Production was stopped due to bankruptcy in 1975. This truck is from the 1950s and therefore a 'Diamond T'. |

Spider Mike's Truck was a Very Wore out 1961 Diamond T 921 DFN was purchased from a Local Trucking Company in Salem Oregon Truck was Purchased on 4/29/77 By EMI Films and had some motor work done to it for the movie the truck still broke down in the movie it was more broken down in the Pit's of Bruhn's Sand and Gravel Company then operating in the movie the trailer was donated from Van Lines in Reno, Nevada for the truck to pull in the movie Van Lines had a Trailer that no body wanted to buy and they had nothing to do with or did they want anything to do with on 5/3/77 the Truck and Trailer were matched together for the movie The Truck never had Damage from the movie after the movie truck was parked in a ware house for a year and the trailer was used as a back round trailer for storage for years In 1979 A Director by the name of Harvey Laidman had asked to use it for a movie where it was turned into a Tow Truck and the Truck was the main Vehicle in the movie after that movie the truck was Given to Bruhn's Sand and Gravel Company as a present truck for Donating so many Trucks to the movie Convoy and Purchasing alot of Convoy Trucks after the movie the truck had the Fifth Wheel put back on the Truck and then hauled a Dump Trailer for Many Years until around 1986 this Truck was sold by Bruhn's Sand and Gravel Company so Bruhn's Sand and Gravel Company can Purchase Bald Eagle's truck the Truck was sold to a guy by the name of Mike K. Who had a Small Mack Fleet and the same person that purchased Pig Pen's Truck after the Convoy was made saw the auction for Spider Mike's Truck Mike K. Purchased this truck cause it was in the movie Convoy, It would make him a great Tow Truck, and He bought a movie truck for a really Good Deal and with in no time the truck was turned back into a Tow Truck Mike K. had this truck up until after 1995 in 1996 He put a Fifth Wheel back on the truck and brought it to a auction in Olympia, Washington the Truck was sold to a guy by the name of Buford P. Grant who lived in Vancouver, BC, Canada bought the truck for an add on to his little Cattle Trucking Company His Cousin was a Girl Truck who wanted Buford to buy the truck for her to drive it a Girl Trucker by the name of Betsey T. Grant Drove the truck and hauled Cattle like Pig Pen did in the movie Convoy after 1999 In 2000 the company was Shut Down cause Buford had passed away the truck & a Barn was left to Betsey, she parked it in the barn after 2000 the Truck is unknown were it is I have Heard Betsey Still has the Truck today and plans to restore it sometime The Truck was powered by a 250Hp NH Cummins and a 6 Speed Fuller Road Range Transmission in the movie which is what it still has today the Truck was ordered on 7/23/61 at a plant and left the plant on 8/13/61 I have heard the Truck is Still in Existence and owned by Betsey the Truck's Vin # was 653103 |

4x4 23, Are you sure about the history on this? I have talked with Mike Kerik several times and know the Bruhn's fairly well. The history you have here doesn't match what they have told me. Anything you can add would help. |

Hi Guy's I am a retired trucker and use to drive one of these in my early years of trucking in I think 1968 & 1969 when I was 20 and 21 years old, I drove it as a potato truck for 2 years, and it was an Identical Twin to this truck, my truck was a 1963 Diamond T 921 DFN and I can bet this one is too, cause all the other years the DFN's has fog lights built into the bumper, except for 1963, it was just a plan bumper like this one, so I have to say this truck was or is a 1963 see link below of a 1963 Diamond T 921 DFN with the chrome fancier grill http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/dt/dt_921dfn.jpg all I can say is this truck should be listed as a 1963 Diamond T 921 DFN |
