Soviet film with location filming in Hong Kong, but some scenes were faked somewhere else - note the FSO, the Nysa and various other LHD cars.

I'd say, these scenes were made in the Baltic republics, due the known -and already listed in annother movies- Ford Taunus and Consul Coupé.

The red Hatchback is a Datsun Stanza.

I don't think it was filmed in Baltic region. A lot of palms make me think about Abkhazia or maybe even Cuba.

Filmed by Kazakhfilm studio.

@3loader: I don't think Cuba, because none Cuba-typical cars at all.

Some of the buildings look very Russian - Tsarist classical architecture and vernacular wooden buildings:

Are there buildings like that in Kazakhstan?

Да Гаг, наверное, в курсе. Вопрос в том есть ли там такие здания? Может в давно обжитых казацких городах типа Оренбурга или Уральска, такие и есть... Но вот пальмы меня смущают.

@3loader: I don't speak Russian. :(

I just said you probably know, that modern Kazakhstan belongs to Russian Empire and thats what you talked about. Well i just don't know much about cities there, i was born in other part of KZ, there was not Tsarist buildings, and no palms for sure.
