![]() I don't see a comma in the title on screen, or the original Australian poster, but that's the "we display the title as it appears on screen" IMDb for you. Esteemed critics and the movie's poster alike would like you to believe this movie is about a custody battle between two sisters. I have actually seen this "cinematograph", so I can tell you that the custody battle itself takes up about 10 (that's ten) minutes of the movie's 113 minutes. The rest is "merely" a portrait of a young child as a seriously confused person. I actually found it to be an infuriating litany of clichés, complete with a ridiculous ending, but the movie's source novel was apparently based on the author's own childhood, so what do I know. Set, filmed and made entirely in Australia. The novel's author was born in 1917, so that would put the timeframe somewhere in the vicinity of the mid-1920s. Whether that's actually when the movie takes place, I have no idea.
