![]() ![]() ![]() 1974 made-for-TV drama about the FBI's efforts to catch notorious gangster and bank robber Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, co-leader of the Barker-Karpis gang infamous for violent bank robberies and the kidnappings of William Hamm and Edward Bremer, which netted ransoms of $100,000 and $200,000 respectively. Captured, allegedly by J. Edgar Hoover himself, in 1936, he was sentenced to life in Alcatraz prison but was paroled in 1969 and deported back his native Canada, later moving to Spain where died of an accidental drug overdose in 1979. Of the four men labeled Public Enemy #1, the others being John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby Face Nelson, Karpis was the only one taken alive. Starring Robert Foxworth as Alvin Karpis!
