Now, about the "Tarantula": Ep. 3.26, "Scratch My Car and Die" (25 March 1964) is all about Rob buying a fancy sports car and being really fussy about it...then Laura borrows it to go to the supermarket and scratches it. The whole episode is about this car, which has bucket seats and four on the floor. So why doesn't it have its own page? Simple...we never see the car! We only see Rob's "driving cap" (he says it's British), the owner's manual and the windshield wiper knob that falls off in his hand. And we do hear it start up and drive off. But we never see it, not even a picture of it. There are people who swear they saw a car in this episode (they're probably thinking about the Mustang in ep. 4.03, "The Lady and the Babysitter"), and Dick Van Dyke has said this is a tribute to the show's writers that they could describe a car so vividly that people will remember seeing it. |

The two Pilot shots were actually for a show starring Carl Reiner. He decided he was better behind the camera, though he did portray Alan Brady, the man who Rob, Sally and Buddy wrote for. |

Is it possible to get a clear close up of the tank logo on that wee moped? Might help the identification. |

There's a scene from that episode where Rob and Laura's son, Ritchie, sits on the bike and pretends to ride it. It's the closest shot of the logo I ever got. |

The 1965 Mustang in ep. 4.03, "The Lady and the Babysitter" actually had the front grill removed so it would be unrecognizable to the viewers. Could it have been because of the carburetor trouble the car was experiencing in the storyline? |
