The tank engine is a LMS 2-6-4, original design by Fowler, modified by Stanier, and the tender engine looks like an unrebuilt Royal Scot 4-6-0 as introduced by the LMS in 1927.

LMS 2-6-4T is engine No. 2490 the LMS 4-6-0 engine is not as visible but looks like engine No. 6131 'Planet' September 1927 (later 'The Royal Warwickshire Regiment' rebuilt in 1949). The engine numbers are only seen in the fades between scenes in the movie.
