Dear fellow-IMCDbers, two questions about the following pics:

1. Are these 716x307 formats not too big for the definition (or do I have to reduce the pics)?

2. Which is, between the first one ('auto-adjust colors') and the second (not), the best looking?

(The test is conducted on the open pages now.)

1. 716x307 seems correct for Harikomi is filmed Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1
2. although overall impression of the first one ('auto-adjust colors') seems better looking the second one to beat it, when it comes to detail of white bus!
3. aesthetically pleasing anyway :)

Bien.

I should add that

— this 716x305 was made by me: I could only captured 716x360 pics, obviously distorted. I made this 2.35:1 ratio up, being unable to find what was the ratio of the original print. Tested on some vehicles known by me, 2.35:1 appeared fine.

— Visually, the movie is a standout, but the (not so many) vehicles seen in it are very common.

Railways buff, this one is for you. For trains are very present here, though not instrumental in the action. It seems they are on the screen for the sake of themselves and their great cinematographic value.

But there is also a story, a good crime story, seen from the eyes of one detective there to find then arrest a man. It is slow when needed, fast when the story asks for it, generally very well acted, and wonderfully cinematographed.

Nomura trusts his actors, obviously. The old cop is played by Seiji Miyaguchi:

Do you remember this austere face? He is one of the most fascinating characters in the most famous of Kurosawa's movies.

Certainly an ambulance, used to drive the corpse to the morgue.
