with the original "Talbot"-mirrors on the wings. The story about this -already extinct- company, located in West-Berlin is not uninteresting. In the late 30ies the French Talbot company installed an assembly-line in Berlin. No idea, how many cars were built there, Talbot was IMO always rare in Germany - otherwise in Berlin there were many people with money. After WWII the "plant" (rather say "garage") was never re-opened for car-manufacturing, just for producing aftersales market car parts. These wing-mirrors were the most popular. So popular, that in the German classic-car-scene the term "Talbot-mirror" common, as for example "Tempo" for a paper tissue (the Americans say "Kleenex") |
