I think this is the April 00 redesign I once read about in the ADAC Breakdown Report. |

Fairly sure this is 1995-1999. This was 2000 model -- Last edit: 2016-08-15 19:26:02 |

No, there was a teensy refreshning before that. The 1995-March 2000 Sharans had orange turn signals - this has white ones. |

I'm finding earlier Sharans with the clear lights. Common denominator actually seems that they are in "Sport" trim which was introduced in late 1997. |

Tailights with white turn signals were available as aftersales market parts, even via the Votex-programme at VW-dealers, so this means not too much. |

Right, and then there is the lesser-known facelift in 1998 - Golf 4 interior and mirrors, new VW dashboard. |

Would be easier if you could post an image or cite the source, Gamer. |

I made a somename-style comparison with links to model years 1995-98, but I can't find that anymore, so here's this: /vehicle.php?id=110967 |

Glass's gives a range refresh from Sept 97. Previous trims - CL, GL - replaced by new S and SE. Carat continued but promoted from 2.0 to 2.8 VR6. Sport, Sport Turbo and Synchro 4wd seem new ... um .. variants here. Various engine options rejigged. But it doesn't give clear info on before/after detail changes. So Gamer's right that something happened in Sept 97, but I can't tell you what for recognition purposes. |

September 1997? That would already be a 1998 model year, so I guess that's when the facelift came out. Golf 4 was released October 1997 in Germany, if memory serves. |

Noted in passing that there was very mild rejigging of UK Galaxy specs and engine/trim permutations at this point with CHMSL and new 2.0 Si version, but barely noticeable. Alhambra seems unaffected here, but we only ever had a small range choice anyway. |

One of the 1999 special editions, either a Skater or a Tour (Tour was released May 1999 so might be a 2000 MY) not sure which one. EDIT: Checked the VINs of three Tours, all had Y VINs. -- Last edit: 2021-10-11 17:06:38 |
