I notice this is a Goodhew ambulance - is there an actual hospital in LA called Goodhew? Or is it a fictious hospital? As, I remember in Heat (1995) they used ambulances like this one. Same make/livery etc, but they were not 'box' style ambulance but 'high roof' versions.

Goodhew Ambulance Service is or was a private ambulance company in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Ambulance Association website says:
Quote Chartered in 1948, by the fathers of the ambulance industry in Southern California, J.H. Goodhew,( Goodhew Ambulance Service); Carl Dolphin, (Dolphin’s Ambulance Service); Walter Schaefer, (Schaefer Ambulance Service); Ysidro Reyes, (Santa Monica Ambulance Service) and O.B. Bowers, (Bowers Ambulance Service), it was then called the Southern California Ambulance Association. In 1969, the association changed its name to the Los Angeles County Ambulance Association.

Goodhew does not appear in the association's current membership directory, so I assume that it closed or was taken over by another company.

Yup, it's no longer operational. Besides the local Fire Department Ambulance Services, two of the biggest ambulance companies operating in LA County are AMR (American Medical Response) and Care. I think Care now has the contract with the county (AMR had it a few years ago, I don't know what caused the change).

Ah! Thank you Gag Halfrunt and ford guy for answering my query. Stupid me, I didn't think of a privately ambulance company! Additionally, thank you for the update on the current scene of ambulance groups in LA at the moment. Thank you Gag for the history of the company; I never knew that...I've learnt something new for today!

Goodhew Ambulance Service was originally brought out by the Med-Trans in 1995, and then brought out by the AMR when Med-Trans was taken over by the AMR in 1997.
