If this is the 'Jon Voit' (I hope that's how you spell it) car, isn't it an '89?

If the show claims it's an '89, they got it wrong. This car was only built until '86, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, it's pre-'86.

George's "Jon Voight" car. It got destroyed by an engine fire in "The Gum".

Umberto Tozzi drives one like that (sans the faux wood panelling) in a video for his and Cerena's rendition of "Tu/Toi" - if you know a way to make a screencap from YouTube, you can capture it for IMCDb (first appearance around 1:18, fully visible at 1:21 and later throughout the video) - a four star car, a very unusual choice for a French/Italian 2000s music video and you get to listen to a great song as a bonus :D

I'm pretty sure it was a Volvo the salesman and George were talking about being an '89. I don't recall anyone correctly identifying the year for the LeBaron.

No, in the scene with the salesman, the salesman does indeed mention an '89 Volvo. Later, however, when George is telling Jerry what car he bought, he calls it an '89 Lebaron.

This is a 1984-85 model, karoomay's thumbnail shows the wrap-around taillights:

Its either an '82 or '83: In most of the pictures theres no rear side windows (those were added in '84) look close, they used an '86 in some parts of The Gum, as the normally used LeBaron had caught fire after an oil change, pay attention you'll see the side windows aren't there after the fire...sadly all the '82-'85 Town and Country models had that junk Mitsubishi 2.6L that never ran right...for '86 Chrysler enlarged their much more reliable 2.2L to 2.5L which were fine (I know I had a Dodge 600 convertable with that engine and it ran pretty good) anyway the lack of rear side windows, the dashboard, and the steering wheel all indicate this was either an '82 or '83

 Hmm... you are right about the side windows no1uno, never noticed that until you pointed it out. But the stand in LeBaron with the side windows in Ep 7.10, The Gum (that did not catch on fire) could still be an '84 or '85 model since the corner turn signals are not seen, introduced for the '86 model.
Anyways, I wonder if I should list the one without the side windows separately, since it's an older model.

Accually, I loved the fact that George's car is this mess. This car was a prime example of badge engineering that dominated Chrysler at this point. Slaping those plastic woodtrim panels on a k-car makes this a joke. A funny one. The joke was also used in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."

I think that the writers wrote before the car was cast.

The story is the writer on this particular episode (not Larry David then I guess) did own a LeBaron that was rumored to be Jon Voight's, the actor.

Jon Voight confirms: You know, the funny thing was, the writer of that show actually did buy a LeBaron convertible that was supposed to be mine. And he asked me when I came on the set to do my little piece, to bite Kramer’s arm, he asked me, “Would you come around the corner and just look at this car, and tell me if this was yours?” And I had to say no [it wasn’t], but the funny thing is my mother did have a LeBaron, a white LeBaron convertible, down in Florida, and after I did the show, she said, “Why didn’t you get me a new car? You could’ve gotten me a car!”
