TVR, I think.

TVR Tasmin/280i/350i - I think the black badge on the side rules out basic Tasmin, and I'm not sure if the 350i ever made it to the US.

EDIT: Possibly the same car in a contemporary episode of "MacGyver": /vehicle_73370-TVR-350i-1985.html - We called it 350i then, but I don't see any good reason why it's not a 280i.

NADA Guides suggest that only the 280i was sold in the US: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1986/TVR

My method was less scientific. :p I did a Google image search for TVR 350i and got zero results with US plates, versus several US examples of 280i.

Book info that TVR launched the Tasmin 280i in US and CDN in early 83, and was the only Tasmin sold in North America. Most were convertibles, but a few coupes as well from early 84. Distribution was by a Canadian distributor in Scarborough, Ontario for both countries until TVR of America was established in mid/late 80s in Hackson (Florida, then moved to Connecticut. Tasmin name was kept until Oct 85 - a couple of years longer than elsewhere - then became 280i as normal for Series II spec. Not clear how long US sales continued but may have disappeared by end of 1980s, although in mid-80s was absorbing 60% of total TVR production.
