22 cars were exported to USSR, still surprising to see it in Russia! 1979 was 1st full year of export (although possibly they were send to USSR later and most possibly it is private import).

I don't think, that it's one of 22 officialy exported. More really, that it's private import.
In 90's Russians bought a lot of cars in Socialist countries, which they can bought cheap. Also a lot of Ladas came back in Russia with old 80's and 70's European (etc) cars.
All in All, Polonez is really rear in Russia. I have never seen one in my life.

True, many "Polish" Volgas went back to Russia (or other SNG countries) in the early 90s, they were often repurchased by the returning soldiers.

I saw once Polonez Caro with Russian plates in Russian TV. Perhaps another "Russian" Caro played background car in this series http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0154065/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_17 (in faked Warsaw location).

The Polonez was sold in UK, I remember looking at one on the stand at the Earl's Court Motor Show, and, apparently, there are still 2 left running about somewhere.

Ah yes, but UK was this car the 2nd biggest export market after China.

Another Polonez's were from Ukraine (Polonez & Polonez Caro).

Caro wasn't called Polonez only on some export markets.
I like the silver one from 1986 on the pics above.
