I'm surprised, dsl, that you can't identify Rootescrap when you see it. Appears to have painted headlight bowls, so I'd go for an 'Awk. |

I'm still a bit like a swimming duck on older Rootes-jewels - on the surface apparently moving serenely, but beneath the surface paddling furiously to keep up. So I'm always reliant on the expertise of our members who are ... um ... more familiar with the eras concerned. Let's say Hawk Mk.1. |

Looks like a Pullman. The woody treatment would be a special order, but I'm not an expert. Pullman due to the need for an extended chassis and the 4.1 straight six to haul the weight along in an untroubled manner. |

Some discussion on Pullman woodies/estates here. 4 known coach builders (but unknown if a full list) - Tickford, Castle Body 'Warwick', Hooper and Wilson & Stockall of Bury. With full depth wood down to sill on rear door (as thumb above) instead of cut-out for rear arch flourish, it's not a Tickford or Castle Body (see linked example BXG 563 on that page), leaving Hooper and Wilson & Stockall still in the mix. Book pics of these two, but neither match - Wilson & Stockall has the same wheel arch intrusion, while Hooper gets closer but has a slight intrusion and both doors are rear-hinged. So it's still open, including one-off/home-build possibilities. |
