Late 57 Perthshire plate. Where is this/what's happening?? Have the soldiers just built this bridge out of old cardboard boxes and knitting needles?? |

Had to suffer listening to the commentary for this Edingburgh Troop of the Parachute Engineers (Territorial) construct Bailey bridge to car parking for Rugby International at Murrayfield. -- Last edit: 2014-05-28 14:30:10 |

Having been involved for some years with military bridging, my first bid being "Bridging for the Nineties", I can tell you that the technicalities involved in designing a bridge which is portable, quick to build, and can carry a Challenger in full battle trim involve more than cardboard boxes and knitting needles. I still can't tell whether that Wolseley is a 4/50 or a 6/80. -- Last edit: 2014-05-28 14:33:51 |
