POP14Y now belongs to a 2005 Ford Focus and nothing found for PDP14Y. |

It is a Jan 82 onwards car - bigger tailgate window and rear wiper. Badge looks long script as if Vanden Plas (and chrome bumper line probably also VdP). 3500 V8S Vdp existed in 82, 2600 VdP arrived May 84 so too late for ep date. |

Better pictures added. With these ones the badge doesn't seem to correspond to VDP, looks like the engine badge plus a short red badge? Possibly 2600 (or 2300) S? This belonged to the Collins family, who were heading down the social ladder (in contrast to the upwardly mobile working class Grant family) moving to Brookside from a bigger house. Further demonstrating this was how, around a year later, the big Rover had to be replaced by a cheaper Maestro. -- Last edit: 2019-10-06 21:43:46 |

Agree S badge and abandon VdP idea. Was 2600 S more common than 2300 S?? |

The Rover is actually a 3500 SE. Before it got traded in for the Maestro, it was heard starting up and/or driving away a few times in certain scenes and had that unmistakable V8 burble. |

^ sounds can be dubbed or added post filming. Wouldn’t go off what was heard. Film crew could have sourced a different car. |

POP 14Y was Aug 82 to July 83 Birmingham series, so date works OK for car. Blowing up 4th thumb shows 2 red letters in badge = SE trim. 3500 SE was Oct 80+, 2600 SE introduced Sept 82. I think we can safely take 3500 SE. |
