Rear reflectors tipical for the israeli market. Scripts are in Hebrew, so assembled in Israel. -- Last edit: 2013-12-07 13:59:33 |

Have Subarus ever been assembled in Israel? |

I was told so many years ago. In the late 80s and early 90s there were really so many Subarus and Daihatsus there, and not a single Toyota, Nissan, Mazda or Honda. I was told that the major Japanese makes preferred to avoid the Israeli market in order to be prevented by any sort of import band in the richest Arab countries. Smaller Japanese brands had their own assembly plants in Haifa in the same place where previously Fords (Cortinas) had been assembled. For this motivation Fords had suffered a long band in almost every Arab country until the early 90s. I studied a lot in the past the economic aspects of the Middle East conflict. About cars I didn't have any sourch but I was told by both Irsaelis and Palestinians what I expressed above. Even the Hino Contessa could habe been assembled in Israel since there were really a lot. (I loved them later and I missed to have photographed the best ones). It would be nice to get more comments, namely by people who know this so particlar market. -- Last edit: 2013-12-07 16:45:55 |
