Interesting... Ford stopped making the Mk1 in February and on Tuesday, February 21, 1956 the much better looking Mk2 was introduced, something that should have made the interest of new Mk1's rather frosty. Does anyone know for how long after the intoduction of a new model the old one was still being sold as new? (Any make, any model) |

Sometimes there is an overlap but here it is more likely to be something held in stock and sold after the MKII came out at a large discount. -- Last edit: 2013-12-03 00:08:07 |

Have rechecked plate date and it still says April-May 56, so probably old showroom stock (sold at nice discount?? or was UK situation in early 56 that supplies to UK private buyers were still so restricted, that any car would still sell easily??). But as you imply, likely to be 1955 production in the circs ahead of the changeover to Mk2. |

Old stock can easily take a year to run out or more . Obviously the last few months production aren't going to be sold 100% on day production ends. In bike world it is still very common to be selling last years model. -- Last edit: 2013-12-03 07:47:57 |
