The film being set in 1963, just before the Kennedy assassination, and the 1964 Olds having been introduced on october 4 1963, see how smart the screenwriter is: the owner insists that is car is brand new, and asks Costner not to push it too hard! |

I'd think it's even more of a stretch. The Vista Cruiser didn't debut in showrooms until February 4, 1964 as a late-year '64 model. |

This car looks here medium brown. I watched this movie several time and it looked to me in a sort of lilac metallic instead. In the colour chart of 1964 Oldsmobiles there are not any pink or lilac metallic, but I was sure it seemed so. Could anybody expert tell me if this car is pink or brown ? |

The color looks to me like Antique Rose, a color that was available for 1963 Oldsmobiles, but not for the '64s. So if I am correct that this is the color, then my guess would be that the car was repainted at some point. |
