It does not have the exhaust ports in the rear bumper as shown in the other picture, so not '52 or ' 53.Grille is not '53 but '51.So it cannot be an El Dorado which was only launched in 1953.Cadillac series 62 Convertble Coupe 1951 with added trim modifications and Continental type rear spare wheel

I would say 1950 "Series 62" convertible, in view of the small size of the reversing light lens below the tail-lights and the "plain" decorative plate below the front headlights (in 1951, there was a cross-hatch or egg-crate design). BTW, the stone guards behind the front wheel openings are NOT standard (they were used only in 1948 and 1949).

Mr. Cadillac is correct; this is a 1950 model, not only for the distinctive reversing lights located on the trunk, rather than in the taillight, as he pointed out, but also for the shape of the fin. The fins are rounded on this car, as they were from 1948 through \'50. In 1951, however, the top edges of the fins were slightly flattened, eliminating the full curve. This particular car, though, is wearing the front clip of a 1952 model, probably as a result of a front-end collision. Having owned two 52\'s, I can identify the front clip with certainty, even though the anniversary year eagle badges are missing from the beauty panel beneath the headlights. Notice, too, that the car lacks either the rear bumper extension or papoose carrier for the continental kit, as well as the usual decorative tire shrouding used on american continental kits of the era. Instead, the spire tire was simply propped up on the back bumper. All in all, the car is kind of a mutt, but 54 years later, if the car still exists, we can hope that it was restored to original.

I pulled out a photo of one of my 52\'s, and I\'m adding a question mark to my comment about the front clip. Although the gullwing bumper is definitely 1951 or 1952, the hooded headlight rings are \'52. However, the driving lamps were also hooded for \'52. On second glance, those on this car appear to lack the hood. Consequently, the grill and driving lamps may be 1950 or \'51. The beauty panels beneath the headlights were similar in \'50 and \'52, with the 1950 version sporting very prominent horizontal fluting wrapping around and ending at the wheelwell, whereas, on the \'52, the fluting was a more shallow relief, with gold eagle emblems attached. (The eagle emblems could have been removed, but it seems unlikely, given that the idea here seems to have been to add stuff, rather than take away.)

In the end, this is a 1950 Cadillac Series 62 convertible, with or without a \'52 front clip, but definitily wearing 1952 headlight rings, a \'52 or \'51 front gullwing bumper, 1950-\'51 driving lamps, and- as mrcadillac stated- 1948-\'49 front fender gravel guards, with a do-it-yourself continental kit. As for the rest, who knows, but I\'ll bet this Frankencaddy has some close relatives running around in Cuba right now!
