Headlight surround is definitely Leyland or Albion. 'LAD' Leyland cab-over-engine short door design here. (Leyland also used the long door design for some applications.) Albion I believe only used the cab-before-engine with the bigger overhang and long cab door. |

Only short door Leyland model was the Comet, no Albions had the short doors . -- Last edit: 2014-04-02 12:45:49 |

Depth of front bumper would suggest Leyland Comet as well. Dodges tended to have lighter bumpers. -- Last edit: 2014-04-02 12:52:06 |

I agree about Comet. I don't know of other Leylands having the short door. I cannot say if all Comets were short-door but all I can find were. |

It is the only Leyland LAD with short door , Beaver , Bear , Octopus etc along with all Albions had long doors , why god only knows ! So short door LAD cabs can only be Dodges ( all short door) or Leyland Comets |

So Comet (12-ton gross) or Super-Comet (14-ton gross) both introduced Sept 1958 with Motor Panels 'Vista-Vue' (LAD cab). We have a few Super Comets but identification is probably questionable? For future reference LAD Dodge introduced March 1958 and July 1958 for Albion Chieftain 7-Ton Claymore 4 and 5-Ton introduction. |
