The hood gills indicate this is a Road Runner, the grille suggests a 1972 model, but it could be a 1971. |

This car is a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. It has the Satellite grille, but only the Sebring and Sebring Plus came with the Road Runner-style hood. |

I always thought this was a GTX. |
◊ 2006-09-30 05:54 |
This is definately a 71 GTX, The only way it can have that hood and the chrome down the side is if it a GTX. If you look close you can also see the "GTX" emblem on the quarters in front of the rear wheels. |

I just checked the DVD...the letter on the side of the hood says "383," so it's definitely not a '71 GTX...they only were available with the 440 or 426 Hemi. Also, GTXs had "GTX" letter in the grille. Although there are side badges in front of the rear wheels, they appear to be too small and too high up to be 1971 GTX badges. I'm jumping on the Satellite Sebring bandwagon. -- Last edit: 2007-01-15 21:07:48 |

I don't care what it is! I LOVE SATELLITES! |
◊ 2007-05-01 15:33 |
Well, this is no doubt a Satellite. Picture of a '71 GTX for comparison....note the different grille and the difference in badges on the rear quarters. Link to "www.musclecarclub.com" |

If the emblem on the quarter panels is too high up to be a GTX, then it has to be a Satellite Sebring or a Sebring Plus. Road Runners had the quarter emblem, but their grille is different. It's definitely a 1971, it has the 71-only side marker lights. |

This is a GTX, not a Satellite. |

This has to be a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner 1. The tail lights that are visible in antp's pic post are rectangular; only 71 had rectangular, 72 was more octagonal 2. The grill pictured was only on the GTX and the Roadrunner in 1971, while it was on the Satellite in 71 and 72. 3.The hood was only offered on the GTX and Roadrunner, NEVER ,UNLESS SPECIAL, SPECIAL ordered, was it offered on the Satellite (even if it was a Sebring Plus). 4. The emblem on the grill is to small to be the GTX or the Satellite (GTX was the big letters that are very visible and the Satellite was a strip divided into the three colors of the French flag). All of info= 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner All of this info has come from my own personal research on my own 1971 Plymotuh Satellite Sebring Plus and from other fellow enthusiasts of the 1971-72 Plymouth B-body that have shared info with me through various respected arcticles and even original brochures of this body style. OF course there is the off chance that the film makers threw on a RR or GTX hood on a Satellite along with the RR grill emblem. |

I vote "sebring plus" with Road Runner hood. -- Last edit: 2013-06-01 02:46:43 |

It can't be a Sebring Plus... I have one and they were never optioned with a air grabber hood like that. They have the more flat hood without inserts. But what does it matter. When you take off all the badges and the hood you have a Satellite -- Last edit: 2008-12-21 04:13:45 |

This is a 1971 model Satellite/Road Runner/Sebring Plus. This is Hollywood so the possability that they used spare parts to make this car a very good guess at best. I agree that the 71 to 74 B-Body cars were the most stylish. |

I too believe this to be a 1971 Roadrunner. No matter what is is, it crushes me to see this car get T-Boned in this movie. |

This was a crummy movie, and one I cannot bear to watch ever again. Guess in 1974 these cars were a dime a dozen, but just thinking now how I'd love to have any of them, not to mention what they would be worth, makes me sick. But Hollywood always had a penchant for glorifying IMHO "stupid" and faddish cars, and wrecking the great ones. |

Not that badly damaged doorlooks fine, so does the bumper. A new rear panel and maybe suspension/rear brake repair probably had it back on the road in 24 hours. Remember Toby Halicki's business was crash damage repair... |

@typhlosion - really? Using this site to flame people? You just don't get it, the whole auto history thing...okay, but keep the childish comments to yourself. |

Its a Satellite Sebring (notice the emblem below the rear window) with a Roadrunner hood and grill, also notice the left fender has a turn signal indicator and right side doesn't |
