1974-1977 style.
Note car has the older, opposed wiper pattern.
(Actually, year of show limits it to 1976.)

:sun: Looks like we have Holy Grail here. :sun:

Most probable it's one of four 'mule test' prototypes of Checker Taxicab assembled in 1975 fitted with 'Perkins 6.247', 6-cyl. 4.1-litre Diesel engine. Looking at air date of this episode (Dec 1976) and 1974-1977 and car's look, I have no doubt. One exists, however with petrol engine now. Note nice unusual sticker near fuel cap, with 'Diesel Fuel Only' warning I suppose.

It was next attempt to fit Diesel engine in Taxicab after 1966-1967 when 'Perkins 4.248' 4.2-litre 4-cyl.(!) engine was available as (rare) option. Third attempt was more successful. You could buy Checker with 5.7-litre V8 Oldsmobile Diesel for 1979.

I think this car deserves own page.

Can't find the entry, but several months ago I think we had a yellow cab with something written which may have been Diesel on top of boot lid (which was a bit pointless as no-one could read it) - was a US make but possibly not Checker. Part of the same project??

But 'Diesel' is FAR more interesting. :D

I think it deserves to type 'Taxicab Diesel' in model blank even because its rarity.
With 'Diesel' in extra info blank it will drawn in flood of other 1975 Taxicabs.

Should it be listed as Proto/Concept?
