mgacoupeguy wrote I'm not so sure the Corvette Stingray is a 1967. If it is, it sure has the wrong wheels on it. I pegged it for a 1964-1966. Those years used the knock-off wheels. A '67 would have bolt-ons.

wrenchhead wrote Not all 1993-1966 Corvettes had knock of wheels. It was an option for those years - if you didn't buy the $300+ option they had bolt ons. However, I agree the knock off wheel option shown on this car was not available in 1967.

It's a 1967 for two distinct reasons, one being the reverse light right above the rear license plate, the other being the five vertical grilles in the fenders, these are distinct only to 1967.

What's the story behind this car? I heard they used CGI for the car being towed behind the plane, but that wrecked Vette looks like the real deal.

Even if you have to lie to me, just tell me they didn't actually annihilate a 1967 Corvette convertible for this stupid movie.

This one, a 427/435 horse model - sold yesterday for $110,000 ($121,000 with fees) at the Barrett-Jackson auction yesterday. It apparently was fully restored since the movie was made. I've read that the one they dropped was a mock-up; let's hope so.

well, this one shown in the movie isn't a big block..at least the hood says it isn't (no stinger hood)

and it sure looks like they wrecked the actual car..in those extra pictures ford guy posted, you can see the lower control arm attached to the spindle and wheel hub where the wheel came off..if it was a mock up they sure as hell went through alot of trouble using alot of the original car for the "mock up".
