Honey's and Sam's heavily-used spy vehicle, often disguised as a TV Repair truck but sometimes as a dry cleaning or newspaper truck. At least once we even see it unmarked. It's pretty much one of the show's settings (the other being the detective agency itself), and I'm surprised every bad guy in southern California didn't figure it out on sight. Note the landau irons on the rear panels. 1.04: 1.05:1.08: |

I think the van used in the Honey West series is a earlier than 1965 model. The reason I think this is because the mirrors shown on this van were standard from 1961 - 1963. In 1964 they changed the mirror to a rectangle although they still used the same base/arm. Here's a picture of a mirror for sale on eBay that shows 61-63 application for the round mirror. I have also seen this on other postings of part number application so I believe this is correct info. Another reason is that the van in the show had the rear bumper that included the license plate. In 1965 this bumper changed to a straight bumper and the plate was located on the driver's side rear door with a light above it. Unless the movie studio changed out the mirrors, anyway why would they? I think they used a couple of year old van for the series. Regardless, I am thinking about making my 1963 Van into a Honey West Spy van replica...if anyone knows what color the van in the show was or what happened to the original(s) I'd appreciate any information. -- Last edit: 2014-11-24 03:12:31 |
