New Holland did own Ford Tractors for a while, until Ford told them to drop their name in 2000. Actually, Fiat bought New Holland-Ford, and Ford said they weren't allowed to use their name after 2000. -- Last edit: 2012-06-10 22:04:28 |

New Holland It's a late 1990's model since it has New Holland in big letters with a small "Ford" on the machine, post-dates the Fiat acquisition of Ford-New Holland, but pre-dates the end of the agreement that Ford Motor Company allowed New Holland (now owned by Fiat) to use the Ford name (but not Ford oval) on the tractors since, especially in the case of the 545D, the tractor dates back to a Ford tractor design prior to Ford even buying New Holland in 1985. Fiat keeping the "Ford" name in little letters was supposed to make people associate the "New Holland" tractors with the Ford tractors of yesteryear and in most cases, the one that came off the assembly line with "Ford" the day before the sale... |
