The Grand Wagoneer, although essentially the same truck as this one, didn't come out until '84, when the smaller Cherokee (and the Wagoneer based upon it) came out (so, of course, the "Grand" specifies the larger vehicle).

Actually in 1984 you could special order one without woodgrain but a trim strip in the middle. If this one has vertical taillights, then it would in fact be a 1984 Grand Wagoneer, if not then a 1979-1983 Wagoneer.
