1983-1986’ish (given the episode airing date)

I have a slight suspicion it might be at least a 1985 model, but cannot confirm. If so however, this rounded-line would have been carried over to Britain rather quickly given its age. Its been modified, has a custom grille, headlamp appliqués have been removed, and a custom utility body (I guess that would be called a "tender" in Britain?) has been added, fused with a normal Fleetside pickup box.

Excellent... Always good to hear from an owner. Your name can be added to the owners field.

Do you have any pictures of the engine as it appears now?

Looks like reversed windscreen wiper. Could this be factory made right hand drive?

Thank you for the photos, nice to see its getting pampered rather than scrapped. Its always sad to see a rounded-line get scrapped.

The rear one-ton class axleset appears to have been modified, allowing the dual rear wheels to sit more snuggly under the vehicle. Perhaps that was done so the dually could better navigate narrower English roads and city streets?

Factory correct Big Dooleys exhibited the rear wheels protruded outward, needing fender extensions, mainly for cosmetic purposes.

Does it have the 6.2 liter 379 J-Series V-8 diesel or the 7.4 liter big-block 454 pushrod V-8? Appears to have the larger 6.2 liter J-Series V-8 breather housing to accommodate the larger particulate air filter, which in-turn allowed the diesel engine to breathe more freely.

Hope you find all the parts you need, best of luck with the restoration. Great work! :)

I just noticed the locals had fitted a custom grille with a Land-Rover Series III design, though it appears upside down? A Chevrolet Land-Rover perhaps? :D

yes the landrover grill was fitted for boon this fire engine is one of a kind it is the only one that was built by carmichael in the uk there is not an other one with the same body as this one i never new it was in a tv seris on till i saw it on this web site i got to see the ep and it was good to see it on the tv i have all paper work on details of build and photos. There are lots more of theses engines in the uk but they all were build with locomotors bodys they were higher and you could fit more in the lockers and i think they were cheaper build as fair as i no .I dont know how it got to be in boon as Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service never said anyting to me about it as i was in contact with them 5 or 6 times so i gather that it was used in boon before delivery to Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service as it looks brand new on tv

Interesting.

I was wondering what sort of options the truck had, if it has the optional rear differential lock, underbody skid plate armor, GM Delco audio system, and so on. If you're not sure of the options/features it has, that’s okay, just wondering...

Again, thank you for you're time and photos. Looking forward to seeing more photos of the fire engine. :)

to Lenny C, MANY thanks for the updated information and photos on this apparatus.

Also, would you have a photo of it in Dublin CD livery. I went to their site and they did not have a photo of it - too long ago I guess.
