Renault 15 or 17.?

antp BE

2006-07-23 00:51

Yes  Though from this view I am not sure that it is possible to know which one of the two it is... But the rear pillar seen through the rear window looks like the R17 rather than the R15... or is it just a shadow? No other view of the car?

a Renault 17 Gordini 1975 from what I see in magazine Automobilia N°69

I did not notice that it was in USA... it is already not so common to see them in French movies.
Seeing the bumper I would say that it is not one of the first models. And as they quicly stopped the R15/R17 to only keep the name "Gordini" in 1975 (which was a R17 actually), I suppose that it is that one.

Edit : Bref was faster than me :o

The "15 Coupé" and the "17 Sports Coupé" appeared in Montreal may 1972. 1973 model didn't have the huge bumper and 15 had twin headlights. They adopted the federal bumper for 1974, and from 1975 on, only the 17 existed with the Gordini name and some nice color like the US only "royal plum"...

It would be quite incredible that it is another one in the same color. So I guess that it is the same one? Then it is a rare 1974 R15...

I cannot see the mirror of the 3 serie Bmw, which means it's a R17. Can we think the one on teh parking has had its grilles painted black?

With the reflect it is difficult to see anything... I am not sure at 100% that it is a R17-style pillar. And on the other hand, on the other picture, something is hiding an important part too...
I hope that garco will be able to help with one or two extra pictures :D

Yes, but as I said above the other picture does not allow a sure identification either...

I have checked, there are no better views of the car than this.

..bon? (..bin oui quoi?... :D )

antp BE

2006-07-23 20:55

This is for sure a R17 Gordini, there are no R15's with a sunroof only R17 have this.
And the nameplate on the back is from the Renault 17 Gordini, i know because i have on myself.
