1997-1998 XL model since this is a real model. |

Why can it not be a newer model? |

The lightbar. The first models that the NYPD ordered had these StreetHawk lightbar attached. -- Last edit: 2011-11-17 04:12:27 |

What do you mean by first models? The NYPD has been using the Econoline/E-Series consecutively since about the 80's at least. I've seen older Econolines equipped with the Street Haw lightbar. |

I meant first all white models. Units before 1997 were in the famous blue and white while these (the first ones to all come with running boards), were already in the white scheme. The 1980's ones had the old fashion lightbar made by AeroDynic while 1992-1996 units had a Jetsonic setup. For 1997, the vans got a StreetHawk/Jetsonic combo. Examples can be seen here: http://policecarwebsite.net/fc/ny/nypd/nypd510.html . Also, 1997-1998 versions were the only ones that got the dogdish hubcaps. But on that very same page you listed, there were 1992-1996 models that also had the same hubcaps. I don't know why you're saying that only the 1997-1998's had them. And here's a pre-1997 model with a Street Hawk lightbar, also from that page: http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/369/205cvr.jpg And if you ask me, this van seems to have the 1999-2005 style E-*50 badge on the rear door. |

That was referring to newer models since this was absolutely made after 1997. The pre-1997 model got that bar aftermarket, since that was a ex-Homeless Outreach unit with a Jetsonic before being transferred to Auxiliary. As for the badge, you do strike a point so this could be a E-350 XL made between 1999 and 2002. |
