This confused me as I'd never realised that they used the Blazer name on these: Sadly despite appearing in numerous scenes of the ep not many clear angles were seen. -- Last edit: 2011-06-30 01:36:34 |

It’s a 1992-1993 model, brand new at the time. It replaced the aging rounded-line Blazer ... This new aero Blazer couldn’t live up to its predecessor, at least in my opinion. It was later renamed Tahoe for the 1995 model year (when the 4-door version arrived), and carried that name until it was discontinued. Only the 4-door Tahoe remains. |

What I never got was when GM updated the C/K Series trucks to a new body style in 1988, why did they wait until 1992 to update Blazer and Suburban body styles? |

GM was still putting the finishing touches on the C/K-3500 and Sierra 3500 pickups, and Suburban, Blazer, Yukon utilities. The new aero 3500 pickups were introduced sometime around the 1989 or 1990 model year. The 3500 cab & chassis commercial pickups arrived for the 1990 model year, with the 3500 HD (heavy-duty) pickups arriving for the 1991 model year. GM wanted to launch the new 1500 and 2500 pickups as soon as possible as they are the linchpins. Ford was already ahead of the market as its F-Series pickups were much newer. Also the Suburban didn’t really have a direct competitor at that time. So GM didn’t have to worry with rushing it to market. Today however, the story is different; GM keeps a close eye on Ford’s Expedition EL. |
