I just love how many "rounded-line" GM vehicles this show has This is a 1989-1991 model. Hopefully Neptune has more info to add. |

Sorry I missed your comment. Its in top-of-the-line high end luxury trim, known then, as SLE. SLE replaced Sierra Classic for the 1989 model year as the top tier trim, ushering in the multi letter trim levels that everyone is now accustomed to. Other than that small change and the power assisted side view mirrors for the1990 model year, GM made no real "WOW!" changes to the crew cabs or utilities. Probably knowing their demise was soon approaching, GM didn’t want to invest too much into the vehicles. The rounded-line generation was really starting to show its age by then, as was the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (SJ) which was also still being sold at this time. 1991 was the last model year for both the rounded-lines and the Grand Wagoneer (SJ). Ford had gone through three generations of pickups and utilities in the rounded-lines one lifecycle. Why a mass production automaker like GM kept the rounded-lines for so long is beyond my understanding ... |
