The older one was labeled Silverado Classic (there was also a Sierra Classic). I'm not sure if it was because production of the newer truck started late or GM wanted to wring out every sale they could for the old style but it happened. Actually, this isn't the first time GM or other automakers have done this.

They sold the R/V Series slong side the C/K Series until 1991. Same thing in the 90s GM sold the [GMT400/480] until 1999(GMT400) & 2000(GMT480). It shouldn't surpise us anymore
