Opels were not assembled in YU - they were coming as complete car, only difference between German and Yugoslav Opel is small badge on front grille with "IDA" written on it. Volkwagen Golf Mk1/2, Citroen 2CV/Dyane/GS/GA and Renault 4/5/Campus were assembled in YU, not imported as complete cars. |

So it´s another case than, for example, Pirin Fiat in Bulgaria? I thought in case of IDA-Opel it was some form of CKD (complete knock down) and this is reason for "built in YU". |

Opels were considered as "domestic car", but only because they were coming trough consignation - "Industrija delova automobila" (now "Livnica Kikinda" from Kikinda, notrh-east Serbia) made some parts for Opel, and Opel was paying them by giving cars. |
