"bit o rust" is a bit understated. In Germany the TÜV-guy will throw out, for sure without a new inspection-sticker.

Once, when a TÜV-guy had found a smaller rust-hole at my previous K 70, he pondered "Ah, again this hole right here. I cannot imagine, how many K 70 I've directed to the shredder due these rust-holes." :(

in US you could drive it with no floor boards as long as it passed 'emissions'...hehe

it would be legal for UK MOT so long as 'no sharp edges..'

That is not True, In the state of Virginia If there are any penetrations through the floor board the car will not pass inspections, My Suzuki failed because I lost one of the rubber plugs for the drain holes in the floor
