It is probably a fake which tries to look like a Type 92 Armoured Car (1933). These vehicles, of which I don't know the maker, were used in Shanghai. Here is a reference to the real vehicle: http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/92car.htm I think the tank is a fake, too. I cannot even match it to any Japanese armour. Are there any better pictures? Especially the tracks are interesting. |

I think they were planning to make a replica Type 91 Armored Car (used en masse outside railways, while fighting in the city). http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/91.htm But it did not work and they did a hybrid: a little similar to Type 91 Armored Car and little similar to Type 93 Armored Car (error - not Type 92). But it certainly is not Type 93. The vehicle of the movie has only one machine gun (directly in the turret). So it is rather Type 91 Armored Car (sometimes referred to by a non-Japanese as Sumida Type 93). Besides Type 93 Armored Car - used by only IJN (Japanese Navy) - on film attacking IJA (Army) infantry. The second vehicle (light tank) is unrecognizable. They completely failed (although turred is OK – very similar to turrer from Type 97 Chi-Ha Medium Tank - however, the antenna around the rail on the turret - none) http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/chi-ha.htm But this is a movie from 1987. We should to appreciate that they tried ... Regards, jabu -- Last edit: 2013-03-16 22:42:57 |
