Undoubtedly a 4-wheel-drive for off road desert terrain use. It’s a cosmetically modified 1999 model in XLT trim. The factory raised chassis indicates the fitment of ControlTrac 4-wheel-drive with BorgWarner 2-Speed electronic transfer case and electronic locking center differential. Automatic hub lock engagement was standard on all 4-wheel-drive Expeditions and a optional limited-slip rear differential with a choice of axle ratios. Those equipped with 4-corner load leveling suspension would raise up a few inches for extra off road ground clearance when 4L mode (4-wheel-drive with low range gearing) was engaged. |
