1976 Ford Galaxy/Ltd

76 LTD rather than a Galaxie. The Galaxie wouldn't have the rocker and wheel opening trim. This car also has the rather posh full wheel covers.

Yes it is a 1976 Ford LTD.

Not only that, the last Galaxies were made in 1974, and this is not a 1974 Ford at all.

Also a funny scene: when the camera closed up to the police officers, the lightbar went yellow-red :p

Why are we calling this a '76 instead of a '75?

Because jdc has one like this one :p

But the '75's were identical so far as I know .
Unless he had this precise car, we cannot say this is a '76.

We normally use the first year of a possible range.

Yeah, that's also true, so perhaps 1975 makes more sence ;)

1975 and 76 are pretty much identical,my parents owned a Dk Blue/White '75 4dr LTD from 1975-85? But the wheelcovers on this one aren't the 'real' Ford ones, they're the replacement ones you'd buy from like J.C.Whitney or similar??? (These look to be 'solid',the OEM ones center emblems are actually a separate(plastic)piece, and came in different colors, depending on what(original)color the car is?)

Wrong California Highway Patrol doors decals and wrong lightbar (I don't think CHP has ever had any LTD before the crown vic).

This would actually be the Custom 500, the LTD was never a police car with this body style

Not true, from the 1975 Ford Police brochure:
