This is a 1969 model, based on the side vents in the front fenders, and what I can see of the area around the front headlights.

It's a 1969 Firebird 400 convertible with hood tach. Ralley II wheels and Firestone Wide Oval F70-14 fiberglass belted redline tires.

This vehicle was also the green and white firebird covertible which appeared later in the show. The original orange bird was sent to George Barris to be customized and he applied the green and white paint. Later in the 1970's a private owner repainted the car to look more factory with the white with blue stripes look. It is for sale now on ebay in pretty rough shape but is all numbers matching with excellent paperwork....

Quite a lot of money for such a wreck. Will there be any realistic chance, that anyone would accept that price? Or are 69' Firebirds always in that price-category?

No not normally esp. in this condition. The seller is really banking on the Celebrity factor figuring someone will pay the price to have the Jeannie car or A George Barris custom.

the white and blue car has a Trans am hood and T/A spoiler. the top pic of the orange car has the 400 hood. the artical states Barris added a nonstock hood and rear spoiler..........but it is stock for a 69 Trans am!

If you look carefully you will see that this Barris conversion does not use stock 69 Trans Am parts. The hood is fiberglass instead of steel and the scoops are a different shape. The side scoops and rear spoiler are also different than the stock Trans Am parts.

A then-contemporary Hemmings Motor News column profiling this car indicates that the seller in 2011 described the car as being commissioned by Pontiac to have Barris customize the Firebird to give it the appearance of a '69 Trans Am, which had not been produced at the factory yet. I inferred from the description that Pontiac wanted the Trans Am to appear in the show, but it would not be available in time for filming. If this is all true, it sounds as if although not built as a Trans Am, it was configured by the company to appear as such for filming / promotional purposes. I watched I Dream of Jeannie repeatedly in reruns (Larry Hagman was cool, Barbara Eden smokin', and the cars fun to see, especially the parade of Pontiacs). Best I recall, when the Firebird was in its carousel red guise, it was never Major Nelson's car (He had the three GTOs '65 through '67, then a blue '68 Bonneville (that itself was briefly painted up as a hippiemobile!), and a gold '69 Bonneville. Major Healey had a yellow '68, then yellow '69 Firebird, and the Firebird in green after its Barris transformation. I do remember the vivid carousel red Firebird as it made a short but memorable appearance as a real estate agent's car in an episode where Jeannie puts Major Nelson's house up for sale without his permission or knowledge. But contrary to the 2011 seller's claim, it was not Major Nelson's car at anypoint.
