I was ready to decalre this a Chevrolet C-70 or something heavier. From what little I can see, it may even be a Kodiak. UPDATE EDIT: I got a closer look at the truck from here: /vehicle_236494-Case.html It's a GMC from the 1980's and more than likley a 7500 at the lightest. -- Last edit: 2009-07-01 14:46:00 |

So could we just list this as a C-Series? Or isn't there a chance that it might be a GMC also? |

No, it's not the Chevy. The cowl insignia has too much red in it. To be honest, I've been wondering if GMC ever used C or K to describe any of their truck models. You could try "GMC 7500." -- Last edit: 2009-07-01 22:17:08 |

They used both C and K, it was the numbering that was different. But are you sure the name is 7500? I thought that the two zeros were only added to the numbers when the 1988 model came out. So this generation was C-10, for example, while the next generation was known as the C-1500. |

My knowledge of the medium-duty trucks is not up to par with the light-duty pickups ... But I believe Chevrolet used C-70 for their Kodiak (I could be wrong about that though) GMC did use C-7000 (type GMC C-7000 and multiple TopKick trucks appear on search) C-7000 is also seen on this TopKick: (See thumbnail capture) /vehicle_234258-GMC-TopKick-1981.html |

Kodiaks and TopKicks were meant as models between the Medium-Duty C/K Series and heavy-duty trucks like the Chevrolet Bruin/GMC Brigadier and the heaviest Chevrolet Bison/GMC General. This is neither the TopKick nor the Kodiak, because the numbers above the manufacturer's insignia that I thought indicated that it was is just a number pained on the cowl by whatever company owns it. GMC used four-digit numbers for their trucks throughout the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's even if they didn't show them on the cowls. Chevrolet used the two-digit designations until 1988. By the way, the GMC in Neptune's link isn't a TopKick. TopKicks of that period had big wide grilles with lowered quad-square headlights. /vehicle_49622-GMC-Topkick.html |

Chevrolet C-70? the only difference I see is the hood straps link or this one, another C-70 link -- Last edit: 2009-07-02 00:51:25 |

If you notice, the Chevy has the mustard-colored cowl insignia, while the GMC's are red. GMC's with the same body during the mid-1970's had a bigger cowl insignia, while Chevy's had cowl insignias that looked nothing like the GMC's. My father has a friend who's a well-driller and he has two post-1973 GMC trucks in his yard that are sitting around gathering rust. The newer one has the cowl insignia like this one. I'm sorry I never took a picture of the two of them together, because it would give me a chance to show the comparison between the two. -- Last edit: 2009-07-02 01:06:15 |

So, that should tell you this is the GMC. |

So it's decided then? GMC C-7000? |
◊ 2009-07-03 03:25 |
I'd say 7500. |
