It's a Firebird S/E, you can tell from the badging on the front fender and the wheels. |

Year would be 1982 through 1986 or so. |

its definately an 82-84 (they changed the hood for 85) I almost want to say it's a Trans Am with the turbo hood but maybe the SE had that too? |

That car is not a Special Edition it's only a Trans Am because there is no SE logo on the car and the Special Edition didn't had the Hood Scoop (Turbo Hood) and came standard with the Viscount Bucket Seats a.k.a. PMD seats and were optional on the Firebird and Trans Am models (like K.I.T.T.) and probably it's one from late 1982 because of those 15" ALUMINIUM WHEELS available on the 1983 Trans Am too. And look at the seat belt loop... it's 1982 style and in the 1983 models they had a different shape and were thicker. And that episode of Simon & Simon was aired in March 1983 so that's a late 1982 model then a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (with Standard Seats & 15" ALUMINIUM WHEELS) -- Last edit: 2009-07-31 12:51:25 |

The wheels make it a 1983 trans am. I don't think those were offered in 1982. |

Yes and no. These wheels were apparently offered around mid and/or late 1982 because of a shortage at the factory. You can see them a lot on the '82 MSE Trans Am. But most Trans Am including the Firebird S/E with the WS6/WS7 special handling package got the 15 inch turbo cast wheels. |
