you missed the year-1965+ |

What makes it a 1965+ rather than 1964.5? |

1965 was the first model year for the Mustangs, but they were released early. Cars manufactured between April 1964 and August 1964 are sometimes referred to by collectors as "1964 and a half" models, due to minor revisions in September of 1964 to keep the cars fresh, but they're all technically 1965s. |

A minor correction to my previous post: "1964 and a half" models were built from March to August of 1964, not April to September as I previously stated. To answer your question, jettalover, cars manufactured in this time period had quite a few minor differences, but some of the biggest differences were an available 260ci V8 engine (all V8s after August of 1964 were 289s), slightly different automatic and manual transmission shifter designs, a generator rather than an alternator, and different patterns in the seat stitching. Here's a more complete list of all the differences on the "1964 and a half" cars: http://www.shnack.com/document.php?pid=31 -- Last edit: 2009-05-26 06:51:42 |
