A70 Herefords were an Australian conversion,not available as new in the uk,whereas the A40 based car,van and pick up were uk built..so its more likely to be the A40 pick up. |

Sorry 2491tj this is not correct - the A70 Hereford pick up was manufactured by the Austin Motor Company at Longbridge between June 1951 and October 1954 under the model code BK3 and very much was a full UK production model with just over 20000 built. At launch you could buy one of these either in primer for £546.0s.7d or for just £10 more you could have one painted in the colour of your choice. Whilst it is true that many UK designed and produced cars were available in Australia as 'Utes', this one is British through and through. Due to the very hard lives they led when new combined with the very basic (i.e. non existant) levels of rust proofing, they are a rare sight today, but examples can still be found... -- Last edit: 2008-09-01 22:56:58 |
