Seems likely Van Conversion since I don't think Toyota Astra Motor ever offered an actual factory-built station wagon model in the second generation. Correct me if I was wrong.

This one is an official minibus version sold by Astra as identified by the barndoors, a more traditional under-window truck model was also offered as per the era.

Also yes, minibus versions were not built by Astra due to the ban on factory built station wagons until 1997. :)

Here's an article and the brochure confirming it.

Thank you! And just to clarify, was the third generation since 1986 were already offered also as factory-built wagons?

No problem :)

And no, 1986-1996 station wagon bodies were still coachbuilt by Nusa Cendana Harum and Superior Coach.

With the lift of the ban on factory-built station wagons somewhere around 1997, the 4th gen model would be the first Kijang to be have an official in-house built station wagon body and then it was followed by the Mitsubishi Kuda/Freeca in 1999 and the 2nd gen Isuzu Panther in 2000.
