Unusual for TR4A to have steels - was export only.

Why do you keep posting this under every TR4A with steel wheels? White steelies were standard equipment on every TR4A (even those sold in Britain, so not "export only"). Wire wheels were always an extra-cost option.

^ Because as a Brit, pretty well every British TR4A I've ever seen had wires, never steels. Ditto mid-60s onwards MGBs, AH 3000s, Sunbeam Alpine S4/S5 and Tigers, Spridgets etc - it was the default spec here - if wires were theoretically an option, the box was automatically ticked in British showrooms.

However your comment rings a faint bell that some export markets for these Brit things - with rougher roads?? - weren't as keen on wires because they were too fragile, so steels were much more common than in UK.
