I think this is an SS Jaguar 1½ litre, introduced 1936. Note it has four suicide doors. |

So without "I"- just SS? |

Yes. At the time SS was the make, Jaguar the model: it was only after the war that Jaguar became the make, for obvious reasons. |

Interesting! I didn't know that, and for some reasons I didn't notice that in these links posted by Stronghold. |

SS stood for Swallow Sidecars the company which William Lyons founded to build motorcycle sidecars. The sidecar business was sold when Lyons started building motor cars. |

Why not 2½ litre model? |

I just defaulted to the smallest one ... and besides the grille and bonnet look rather small, and IIRC the 1½ litre was smaller than the 2½ or 3½ litres. |

http://www.forgotten.pl/uploaded_images/1395-OsaLodz-2013510231002.jpeg S.S. Jaguar 100 2 1/2 Litre This is that very car today. It was a property of Tadeusz Tabencki, who lent many cars from his great collection for "Parada Oszustów". Nowadays, only some rusted out carcasses remain, anything else stolen... -- Last edit: 2016-07-15 22:06:30 |
