yep....Magirus Deutz Jupiter 6x6 Cargo truck, with its rear cargo body removed and a fake flat bed with fake rocket launcher system added.......probably to imitate a Zil launcher for movie purposes......note the discarded ammo boxes are for US belted MG rounds, they shouldnt be around this "knocked out" vehicle!!....THEN AGAIN....as it was filmed in South africa, the truck could be a SAMIL..a South african license built magirus deutz Jupiter...if so..then it isnt an MD Jupiter!. -- Last edit: 2008-08-02 11:37:26 |

A Ural 4320 would be correct for the BM-21 Grad rocket launcher: /vehicle_71209-Ural-4320.html ...but they blew up their Ural in episode one. /vehicle_184482-Ural-4320.html |

@ 2491tj: AFAIK, this generation of MD bonneted trucks wasn't licensed to Truck-Makers of SA. SAMILs and SAMAGs were based on the more angular successor generation of the seventies. Finally under the Iveco banner, this design ceased production in 1995. See http://www.fleetwatch.co.za/magazines/June02/46-MagirusDeutz.htm and http://www.fleetwatch.co.za/magazines/June02/50-TheLastOutpost.htm for interesting reads on the South African connection. |
