It's a 1968 250 C W114 (not C114). |

Isn't C114 the code for the Coupé-W114? |

I´ve been wondering over this for some time. Is it really accurate to use this C instead of W for old cars like these? Even if M-B today use different designations for different bodies, (I think Alexander showed some correspondence with Daimler-Chrysler on the subject some time ago) I don´t think it´s ok to put them on older cars. That would be rewriting history. I think it should be W114 regardless bodytype, but I´m not absolutely sure of it. When did M-B start using other chassiscodes beside the Wxxx? Another problem with separating the cars in different categories like W123, S123, C123, V123 etc. is that it´s much harder to get an overlook of the W123 bodied cars, in the case you´re a W123 fan and would like to see them all. |

I agree with that. On the other hand, for modern cars it is better to use the accurate code I guess? Or what I could do is that we only put the W-code in the field in all cases, and that if the body type is different than sedan then the site could display the code differently , e.g. "W123 (S122)" ? -- Last edit: 2006-07-16 23:02:24 |
